Kalle Leander is a graduate of the University College of Opera in Stockholm, the Malmö Academy of Music and the Music Conservatory in Falun, Sweden. He has taken lessons for legendary singers such as Ingvar Wixell, Erik Saedén and Dorothy Erving as well as the internationally famous coaches Paul Farrington and David L. Jones.
Kalle has appeared at the majority of Scandinavia's opera houses including The Royal Opera in Stockholm, The Norwegian Opera & Ballet, Danish National Opera, Drottningholm Court Theatre and Folkoperan, in roles such as Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, Nemorino in Elisir, Don Anchise in La Finta Giardiniera and the title roles in Wagner's Parsifal and Monteverdi's L'Orféo.
At the musical theatre stage Kalle will perform the male lead of Anatolij ("The Russian") in Chess at Helsingborg Arena in 2020. Kalle has also performed a number of acting roles in such varying genres as "the gigolo Francois" in the farse A bedfull of foregneirs and Hjalmar Söderberg's classic Doktor Glas.
In concert, Kalle has appeared at, amongst others, Malmö Concert Hall, the Royal Palace in Stockholm (for the King and Queen), the Blue Hall and Golden Hall at Stockholm City Hall, The Royal Foyer at the Royal Opera, Nybrokajen in Stockholm, Grand Theatre i Gothenburg, Växjö Concert Hall, Spira Concert Hall, Aalborg Concert Hall (Denmark), Aula Magna Santa Lucia in Bologna, Forlì Theatre and "the Ystad international military Tattoo". He has done over 100 concerts in Sweden and abroad.
As oratorio soloist, Kalle has performed in the Requiems by Mozart and Fauré, St. John's passion by Bach, Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis", Rossinis "Petite messe solennelle", Nielsen's third symphony and "Fynsk forår", Mozart's "Spatzen Messe", Haydn's "Die Himmel" and "Missa in tempore belli", with some of the greatest orchestras i Sweden such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphonic Orchestra and the Drottningholm baroque ensemble.
A large number of scholarships and prizes include the Anders Sandrew Scholarship and "the Coming Star of the Year" in Skåne. Kalle was a finalist in the international "Malmö Vocal Competition" and has recieved the Royal Academy of Music national scholarship 5 years in a row.
Kalle was recently broadcasted on WQXR - New York's main radio channel for clasical music.
